Nidal Hasan killed 13 people at Fort Hood on November 5, 2009. His co-workers described him as "anti-American." Witnesses say he screamed "Allahu Akbar" before he opened fire in the Soldier Readiness Center on post. He was sentenced to death on August 27, 2013.

Dubbed "The Luby's Massacre," George Jo Hennard killed 23 people at a Luby's cafeteria in Killeen on October 16, 1991. He drove his truck through the front window of Luby's. He also injured 20 people before killing himself. Up until the 2007 Virginia Tech massacre, The Luby's Massacre was the deadliest mass shooting in American history.

Vernon Howell was the leader of the Branch Davidians religious sect in Waco. Howell aka David Koresh began to preach that he was entitled to 140 wives, sixty women as his "queens" and eighty as concubines! On February 28, 1993, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms raided his compound, which lead to the deaths of four agents and six Davidians. After a lengthy stand-off, on April 19, 1993 seventy-six Davidians, died in a fire.

A biker meeting-gone-wrong in Waco at Twin Peaks 'breastaurant', ended with nine men being killed, 20 wounded, and 177 ended up in jail. Authorities blame the Bandidos and the Cossacks, which are rival biker gangs.

Charles Whitman was a student at the University of Texas at Austin, who shot and killed 14 people and wounded 31 others from the observation deck of the University's Main Building on August 1, 1966. He also killed his mother Margaret Whitman and his wife Kathy Whitman. This is an excerpt of his suicide letter, "I do not quite understand what it is that compels me to type this letter. Perhaps it is to leave some vague reason for the actions I have recently performed. I do not really understand myself these days. I am supposed to be an average reasonable and intelligent young man. However, lately (I cannot recall when it started) I have been a victim of many unusual and irrational thoughts."

On August 24 and 25, 2007, Paul Devoe drove to his ex, Paula Griffith's, house in Jonestown. He shot her to death, along with her daughter Haylie, Danielle (Haylie's friend), and Griffith's boyfriend, Jay Feltner. Devoe shot and killed a bartender named Michael Allred in Marble Falls and Betty Jane DeHart in Greencastle, Pennsylvania. He was sentenced to death on October 8, 2009.

Ivan Lopez killed four people, including himself at Fort Hood. Fourteen other people were injured. This was the second shooting at Fort Hood within 5 years! It happened after an argument about him taking a 10-day leave of absence to attend his mother's funeral in Puerto Rico.
