A man suspected of shooting a man at an Easter celebration in Belton was arrested in Louisiana Wednesday.

The US Marshall Service took 51-year-old Kevin Petit into custody around noon in New Roads, Louisiana. He was awaiting extradition back to Bell County Wednesday evening.

According to police, Petit and another man got into an argument on Easter Sunday during an egg hunt in Heritage Park. The other man reportedly threw water in Petit's face, after which Petit left for a short time, returned with a gun, and opened fire, striking the other man in the arm and leg. Witnesses said the shooter fled in a truck.

The man who was shot survived. There were no other injuries.
