In the state of Texas, possession of less than two ounces of marijuana is considered a Class B Misdemeanor, buuuuut if you attempt to destroy, toss your weed, eat it, conceal or hide when in presence of a police officer, and you are caught ,that misdemeanor can be upped to a felony.
That is considered tampering with evidence.
