UPDATED: 6:22 p.m. CST:

An agency identifying itself as Daddy Yankee's publicist has refuted rumors that the reggaeton artist had publicly acknowledged he is gay.

The offices of Nevarez Communicatons and Perfect Partners in Florida issued a statement that reports

"circulating throughout various social media outlets regarding the artist's sexual orientation to be completely false.

The statement contained a statement, attributed to Mayna Nevarez, President of the public relations firm Nevarez Communications:

"Online blogs and social media are once again to blame for the spread of false news reports, which other media outlets have also shared regarding a public figure. The reports circulating regarding Daddy Yankee's declaration of homosexuality was falsely written by an online outlet known for fabricating false information and spreading it through social media sites."

Reggaeton superstar Daddy Yankee has reportedly come out of the closet as gay according this Spanish website.

The website reports the singer issued a statement a day after this photo of him kissing another man surfaced on the web.

The translated Spanish statement reads,

"Yesterday were exposed photographs showing some part of me, which I was not prepared to speak for fear of rejection, criticism , but especially for my family and its consequences. I think it's time to grow, not only as a human being, but in all aspects. I think love is the purest feeling that exists and in this life, having the opportunity to share those moments with someone, which look and forget all the negative, that's a gift of life, I treasure more than myself.
I do not want to lie and lie out of fear, I love what I do and what I am, my passion, I could never do something else, I feel really bad about not being able to share this before with all my friends, who are the more mepreocupan and so I decided to be honest.
Hopefully they can see beyond the note, I am a human being like anyone, flaws and virtues and not think this is a defect, I will not deny. Request and thank the press to respect my family and myself, which concluded the issue with this letter and will no subsequent statements. I have fear and uncertainty, but I rely on my partner, I know that your love is greater than this, I ask you with all my heart that will not judge me for being honest and above all always be proud of who they are and never make the mistake I made."

The website did not report where exactly they got the statement from and no confirmation from Daddy Yankee's publicist as of this post.

We'll update this as more information becomes available.

Do you believe this is true or just a rumor?
