Downtown Temple welcomes new Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Mural

There's a new colorful mural depicting Martin Luther King, Jr. and featuring the quote, “Faith is taking the first step even when you cannot see the stairs” located off Central Avenue facing east, towards the Arcadia Theater. The mural is said to add to the positive energy in this redeveloping area of downtown Temple.

The work of Charles Wallis made with state of the art recyclable aluminum, was commissioned by Discover Downtown and Temple Convention and Visitors Bureau.
“Discover Downtown is committed to seeing successful and meaningful public art in Downtown Temple,” said Sherri Street, Downtown Development Coordinator. “I hope this mural will be the first of several and encourages private merchants to create art in their spaces said Sherri Street, Downtown Development Coordinator.

This fall, Discover Downtown will host an “Up Your Alley Art Walk” with additional upcoming artworks planned for this targeted area.
