Johnson Publishing Company has been apart of the African American lifestyle for the past 71 years once started by the great John H. Johnson.

He along with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Rosa Parks were on a long list of Black History Icons, I learned about in second and third grade.

Only having $500 borrowed against his mother's furniture to start  'The Negro Digest'  back in 1942, which later inspired Ebony Magazine in 1945, then Jet Magazine in 1951 Johnson became the first black person to appear on the Forbes 400 Rich List, and at one time, had a fortune estimated at close to $600 million dollars.

Yesterday, it was announced that the company is selling its magazines Ebony and Jet Digital Magazine to The Clear View Group, a Texas Equity Firm, based out of Austin.
