Last Thursday, the Texas Department of Transportation announced exit 301 in Temple, the main exit to Downtown Temple, will close sometime this week.

Although it will be an adjustment for drivers, business for downtown Temple is not expected to be affected by the construction State Rep Hugh Shine told the Temple Daily Telegraph News. 

A spokeswoman for TDOT Jodi Wheatley also told TDTNews said: "signs will be posted, it'll just be longer being on the access road but once you turn on Central Avenue you'll  be right where you were".

According to the report, the new Central and Adams Avenue bridges on exit 301 will be completed by the end of this year, with construction expected to be completed in Temple by the spring of 2019.
