Traffic along a portion of Loop 121 in Belton will be reduced to one lane for five days as crews prepare for a new traffic light.

The lane closure will begin Monday, April 18 at the intersection of Loop 121 and Martin Luther King Jr Avenue (formerly 9th Avenue).

Crews will be working 1,200 feet to the south and 1,000 feet to the north of the intersection.

Workers will mill the asphalt pavement, chip seal it, then overlay it with more asphalt to facilitate the widening of the road to accommodate the new traffic light, which is expected to be activated in May.

City officials ask that drivers slow down in the area and watch carefully for workers traffic instructions.

Questions or concerns may be addressed to the City of Belton Engineer's Office at (254) 933-5823.
