In sad news, Earth, Wind & Fire's co-founder died this morning in his sleep. He was 74.

In 1992 he was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease which caused him to stop touring with the band in 1994. In 2010 he was individually inducted in the Song writers Hall of Fame and the band was inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on 2000.

Co-Founder and Maurice's brother Verdine White gave a statement this morning that he brother passed peacefully in his sleep last night. He went on to request privacy and prayers for his family.
