The City of Killeen will be testing its outdoor emergency sirens Wednesday at 10 AM.

Killeen Executive Director of Public Information Hilary Shine said Tuesday afternoon that the test will activate all 19 of the city's sirens for a short time.

Shine also encouraged citizens to utilize the CodeRed system for emergency notifications. CodeRed is a free service that allows Bell County residents to register contact information such as cell phone numbers or email addresses in order to receive emergency alerts.

Residents can choose alerts for their home address a number of other locations, as well as which types of emergencies they'll be notified of.

Anyone interested in signing up for CodeRed may do so online at ReadyKilleen.org or by phone at (866) 939-0911.
