Texas saw employment growth in nonfarm jobs, education, health services and many other industries in the past year, according to numbers released by The Texas Workforce Commission on Friday.

The numbers show a drop in unemployment for citizens in both Temple and Killeen. 

Andres Alcantar, Chairman of The Commission said Texas gained 170,900 jobs during the past year.

The statistics also show an addition of 5,500 jobs in trade, transportation and utilities.

TWC Commissioner, Ruth R. Hughes said ''Private employers expanded their payrolls by 142,800 in Texas during the past year, and we are pleased to see that trend continue because it reflects the strength and resiliency of our state’s economy”.
