Kodak Black has been released from jail after serving seven months. According to ABC's local Broward County news affiliate, Kodak was released on early Saturday morning (Aug. 18).

The rapper, who now goes by Bill K. Kapri, was originally sentenced to serve a year back in April, but had his time reduced after being credited for extra days spent in the Broward County Jail.

In video captured by the Fort Lauderdale news outlet, Kodak can be seen walking briskly from the premises of the jail as he makes his way to a vehicle that's presumably being driven by one of his friends. From there, we see Kodak giving out a hug before he daps up another person that's apparently come to pick him up. It's a pretty happy scene you can see unfold in the video below.

If you recall, Kodak was arrested in January for a slew of charges including grand theft of a firearm, two charges of possession of a weapon or ammo by a Florida delinquent adult felon, possession of cannabis over 20 grams, child neglect without great bodily harm and two counts of parole violation. It all stemmed from cops catching wind of an Instagram Live feed where Kodak was apparently brandishing a weapon with a child in the room. When police took him in, they claimed to have found 95 grams of weed at the house he was arrested in.

A month later, the child neglect, gun possession and grand theft charges were dropped, which definitely helped his case. However, he stayed in jail on the remaining charges and pleaded not guilty. After violating a jail rule that prohibits making three-way calls, Kodak was briefly put in solitary confinement.

Nonetheless, he stayed busy while being locked up, and definitely used his time wisely. Over the last seven months, he got his GED, began writing a book and changed his government name from Dieuson Octave to Bill K. Kapri.

He also stayed active on the music front, singing the hook for ASAP Rocky's song "Calldrops" over the jail phone and releasing a new song "Mama."

Kodak previously referred to his jailing as a "blessing in disguise"—and it appears he's certainly used the time for some rehabilitation. Hopefully this will be his last time seeing a cell again.
