Lil Wayne Disses Cash Money at 2016 Lil Weezyana Fest
Lil Wayne held his second annual Lil Weezyana Fest in New Orleans this past weekend, headlining the bill alongside 2 Chainz, Migos, Mystikal and more. With floods plaguing much of Louisiana, the timing of the concert was key, and towards the end of his set, Wayne offered two messages to the crowd. The first was a mantra he repeats at nearly every show, telling his fans that he wouldn't be shit without them. The second reflected a different type of slogan.
"Before I get out this motherfucker," Wayne says in the above video. "I want to say three more important words: fuck Cash Money." The crowd then went berserk as "No Worries" began to play, Wayne tearing his shirt off and jumping from one end of the stage to another.
Wayne has spoken those words a number of times in recent months, going so far as to wear the message on a hat in late July. Wayne and Cash Money boss Birdman have had a public falling out, with Cash Money putting the rapper's Tha Carter V on indefinite ice. In January of 2015, Wayne filed a $51 million lawsuit against his label for copyrights and royalties he feels he is owed.
Speaking with ESPN's Cari Champion recently, Birdman said he intends to repair his relationship with Wayne, whom he still views as a son. "I said I wanted to finish the game when I started and Wayne’s somebody I really would like to finish the game with, even if we finish with respect of him still being my son. That mean more to me than the money and the music. I don’t give a fuck about none of that, I care more about our relationship and that’s what I want to heal," he said.
Based on Wayne's words above though, it seems Baby's intentions of reconciliation have fallen on deaf ears.
