The sanctity of marriage is taking a big hit this week. First it was Keshia Knight Pulliam and now it’s Mary J. Blige. The Queen of Hip-Hop Soul has filed for divorce from her manager husband Kendu Isaacs.

According to TMZ, the Grammy Award-winning singer filed court documents on Tuesday (July 26) citing irreconcilable differences and listed the date of separation as “to be determined.” MJB also requested that Isaacs not receive any spousal support.

Blige and Isaacs were married in December 2003 and have no children together. However, Isaacs is the father of three children from a previous relationship. The couple have been married for 12 years.

In a May 2006 interview with Oprah Winfrey, Blige expressed her devotion to Isaacs but did acknowledged that marriage is a struggle.

"I love Kendu. He's my best friend - until I want my way! [Laughs]," she said. "At the end of the day, it's about what God wants for me."

"It's difficult for me to be with someone who tells me the truth, because I come from a family of women who are fighters - they don't listen to men," she added. "I have issues with hearing him. But I'm growing."

Attorneys for Mary J. Blige and Kendu Isaacs had no comment on the matter.
