Meek Mill’s Attorney Claims Judge Has Vendetta Against Rapper

As the news of Meek Mill receiving a two to four year sentence for violating his probation continues to draw criticism, the rapper’s attorney has claimed that the sentencing judge has a vendetta against him.

The lengthy sentence was given even after prosecutors suggested no jail time for violating his probation. The rapper was on probation for a decade old gun and drug case.  First, he was arrested in St. Louis for an airport scuffle and then he was arrested in NYC for reckless driving (he copped a plea deal in both cases).

“I’ve been trying to help you since 2009,” Common Pleas Judge Genece Brinkley told Meek, citing his failure to comply with a court order restricting his travel, among other violations. “You basically thumbed your nose at me.”

According to TMZ, Meek’s attorney, Joe Tacopina, said during a meeting in chambers last year the judge suggested to Meek that he do a remake of Boyz II Men’s “On Bended Knee” and shout her out. Meek playfully denied the request and the judge said “Okay, suit yourself.”

Meek’s lawyer argues the judge showed bias with her stiff sentence over what many critics (including JAY-Z) consider to be minor infractions. He plans to appeal.
