Jay Electronica's triumphant performance at the Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival garnered him a lot of praise and even some criticism.

Apparently, there were some Muslims who were offended by Jay Elect using profanity while dressed in the uniform of the Fruit of Islam (F.O.I.) during his performance.

In a heartfelt letter posted on the Final Call website, the Honorable Louis Farrakhan addressed the New Orleans rapper's BK Hip-Hop Fest performance and his representation of the Nation of Islam during the show.

In his missive, Farrakhan states he's proud of Jay Electronica for representing knowledge of self and encouraging a positive message to the youth. However, he wants other Muslims to refrain from judging him so scornfully because no one is truly perfect.

Is Brother Jay perfect in his representation? Of course not," he writes. "Are we 100 percent in our representation? Of course not. As persons who have accepted righteousness as our standard of intellectual and moral conduct are considered “those who are striving to be upright,” then there is much room in all of us for improvement."

"I am grateful to Allah for my young brother and his effort to represent that which he has come into the knowledge of," he continues. "I am thankful to Allah for his work among the youth! Is it not they whom Allah desires for us to save from the evil intentions of our and their enemy?"

Farrakhan also goes on to talk about his personal journey as a student and now spiritual leader of Islam. He admits that his journey wasn't so perfect but he learned through his mistakes to become a better person.

In the end, Farrakhan hopes to meet Jay Electronica so he can help him with his spiritual journey.

May Allah’s peace be with all of us, and may He grant us forgiveness for any shortcomings that we may have and have manifested," he writes at the end of his letter. "And if it is The Will of Allah, I hope that I will soon meet Brother Jay Electronica to guide him in The Great Work that I know he will do for The Cause of Islam."
