Police in Copperas Cove are warning of fake cash circulating in the area.

Our news partner, KWTX, reports that hundred dollar bills from a movie set were recently purchased by someone online and distributed in our area for fun.

The bills feature bold pink writing in a foreign language and parallel tracks of ink across the top right corner. However, they have fooled a few people who've tried to spend them, and police say that could lead to trouble.

“Do not attempt to spend these counterfeit bills because criminal charges may be filed,” police told KWTX.

Yes, trying to settle up with these bad bills could cause you some legal headaches, so if you notice you've been given one, make the cashier aware or contact Copperas Cove police at (254) 547-8222.
