NBA Star Damian Lillard Drops Debut LP ‘The Letter O’ With Lil Wayne and Raphael Saadiq

Some might say out of all the NBA players who've tried their hand at a professional rap career, the Portland Trailer Blazers' Damian Lillard has the best chance to be successful at it.

You might've heard that stellar verse he spit on Sway in the Morning last year, or maybe you caught those impressive bars he delivered on the #SoGoneChallenge a couple of months ago.

Either way, Lillard dropped his debut album The Letter O today at 12:00 midnight, and it's a 12-song offering that has features from artists like Lil Wayne, Jamie Foxx, Juvenile and Raphael Saadiq.

Plus, the LP doesn't contain any curses, which is probably good because one offensive or vulgar song from the point-guard and could hurt his overall brand, not to mention his good standing with the NBA. Fortunately for Lillard, it seems the Trail Blazers and the league are supportive of his rap endeavors, probably because it hasn't affected his play on the court — at least not so far.

Last year, while speaking to Billboard magazine, the Oakland native said balancing both rhyming and ball-playing isn't difficult at all, as long as he doesn't try to overload himself.

"It's not really as time consuming as somebody might think," said Lillard. "I just keep everything simple. Make sure I go to the gym in the morning, get my work done, and then I got the rest of the day to figure out what I'm going to do with myself."

He also talked about getting his start as an MC.

"I started rapping towards the end of middle school," the NBA star explained. "In high school, with a lot of my frends, we would make beats and just start rapping, beating on the wall, beating on the table and freestyling."
