Nicki Minaj’s Brother’s Attorney Says DNA Evidence in Child Rape Case Is ‘Meaningless’

The attorney for Nicki Minaj’s brother, Jelani Maraj, is defending his client against DNA evidence that was found on the pants of a 12-year-old female accuser’s pants in his rape trial.

Maraj’s lawyer, David Schwartz, maintains that semen found on the accuser’s pants could have been transferred from anywhere because they both lived in the same house. Schwartz adds that he has proof that someone else placed the pajama pants in the girl’s room from another location.

“When you live in the same house, your DNA is everywhere,” Schwartz told BOSSIP. “The fact that Jelani’s DNA was found on a pair of pants is really meaningless.”

As we previously reported, Maraj will stand trial for allegedly raping and sodomizing a 12-year-old girl from April through November 30, 2015 and allegedly raped her on the day before his arrest. Initially, before Maraj was indicted, prosecutors offered him a deal of seven years in exchange for a guilty plea to “course of sexual conduct against a child in the first degree” but he rejected it. If he gets convicted, he could face life in prison.

Maraj’s attorney said that the semen found on the girl's pants was microscopic and feels that if the accuser’s claim that she was repeatedly rape by Maraj was true, “there would be semen all over the place.”

“How do you have sex so much that there’s only a microscopic drop of semen?” asks Schwartz.

Maraj is due back in court later this week; his trial is expected to start later this month. A rep for the District Attorney Office had no comment on the matter.
