Questlove, Missy Elliott + More React to Mac Miller's Death

Yesterday, we learned that Mac Miller died of an apparent drug overdose in his San Fernando Valley, Calif., home. He was 26.

The hip-hop community expressed their grief on social media. "Mac was one of the nicest, coolest dudes man," Questlove tweeted. "This is sad man."

Missy Elliott added, "I’m so saddened to hear about @MacMiller. Such a kind spirit. Sending prayers for strength for his family & friends & fans during this difficult time"

"I don't know what to say," Chance the Rapper tweeted. "Mac Miller took me on my second tour ever. But beyond helping me launch my career he was one of the sweetest guys I ever knew. Great man. I loved him for real. I'm completely broken. God bless him."

"God fucking dammit," Post Malone added. "You were such an incredible person. You changed so many lives. Had so much love in your heart. You inspired me throughout high school, and I wouldn't be where I was today without you. Never a more kind and sincere and beautiful person. I fucking love you mac."

Actor Seth Rogen also shared his condolences: "I was texting with him one week ago about trying to be in his video, which was so nice and exciting because I was a fan of him as an artist and a person. This is surreal and terrible."

Born Malcolm McCormick in Pittsburgh, Mac Miller signed with Rostrum in 2010 and released his debut, Blue Slide Park, a year later. He put out five records in his lifetime, with Swimming arriving only a month prior to his death. All of his albums reached the Top 5.

From 2016 until this past May, he had been in a relationship with Ariana Grande, with whom he collaborated on her 2013 hit, "The Way." The split was reportedly due to the business of their respective schedules, although they remained close friends.
