Pusha-T's Daytona album is being hailed as one of the best rap projects of 2018. The Virginia spitta opens up about making the LP with Kanye West in an interview clip posted on Instagram by Def Jam on Saturday (Dec. 29), calling the task of putting the album together a musical therapy session.

In the clip, King Push starts off talking about the origins of the album. "Kanye was like, 'Ah man, let's go to Utah.' I was like, 'I've never been to Utah,"' he recalled.

Being in an unfamiliar place actually helped the process of creating the album.

"I feel like the seclusion really had us in tune with our preferences and everything we like," he continued. "[Kanye] used to be like, 'Hey, make a list of all the joints you just loved.' We'd pull up those records and just be partying. We'd talk about how great these records were and why they were great in different moments. In those conversations he'd say things to me like, 'That's the feeling, we have to recreate feelings.'"

Pusha said the sessions were also good for the two artists to get inside each other's head during a trivial time for Yeezy. "During the time he was having a lot going on," Pusha added. "I looked at it at the time, I could sort of help my friend through something. Daytona is just the representation of our therapy sessions. Our musical therapy sessions."
