While our current political climate continues a debate on what's "fact or fiction" in the news, another reminder of why you have to CHECK and verify something you see online these days just happened overnight with one of Texas' most beloved franchises.

A fake news article began circulating through Facebook and social media yesterday claiming that Whataburger would be closing all of its restaurants by February of 2018.

A post from Whataburger's official Facebook page stated Wednesday that the story is indeed fake.

The website called "Channel 45 News" contains a disclaimer at the bottom of each page stating that it is a "prank website intended for fun", so at least they're honest about it. Some sites don't do you the courtesy of outing themselves at satire and can easily fool less cautious readers.
