Charter Communications who operates Spectrum, said customers and franchise officials have been notified about a rate increase in their services and products.

At the beginning of November, the Broadcast TV Surcharge will increase from $8.85 to $9.95/month, the cost of receivers will go up .50 cents, there will be a $5 increase for Spectrum customers who have internet and $1 increase for customers who have the internet but do not subscribe to Spectrum TV.

Patti Michel, a spokesperson for Charter Communications said "the increase reflects the dramatically faster speeds and investments we’ve made in reliability and quality,"  "Earlier this year, we doubled the starting download speed of Spectrum Internet from 100 to 200 megabits per second. Lastly, our receivers are still comparable or lower in price than our major competitors'."
