A registered sex offender from Temple has been charged with aggravated sexual assault after police say he broke into a Belton home and attacked a woman.

Bell County Sheriff’s Deputies were responding to a burglary call shortly before 7 AM Saturday when they learned that the 25-year-old victim had been sexually assaulted. They found 47-year-old Ricardo C. Reyna hiding in a nearby home and arrested him without incident.

Reyna was booked into the Bell County Jail at 11:03 AM Saturday and remained there Monday night in lieu of $500,000 bond. He’s been charged with aggravated sexual assault and failing to identify/providing false information.

According to Texas’ sex offender registry, Reyna was sentenced to 5 years in prison after sexually assaulting a 23-year-old woman in 1996.
