85-year-old Lindell Marbut of Burleson is being hailed a hero after risking his life to save two young people trapped in a flipped, burning car.

Marbut's caretaker ran next door to call 911, while Marbut, who walks with the aid of a cane, ran toward the car and began hitting the windshield.

When he spotted a woman's hand, Marbut pulled her out of the fiery wreckage all on his own. His caretaker then helped him pull the passenger from the car, saving both people's lives.

“I just feel like an old man trying to save somebody's life," Marbut told Fort Worth's KDFW-TV. "I'd do it again if I had to."

DPS officials told KDFW the women in the car suffered serious internal injuries, but were expected to survive.
