A man who shot his ex-girlfriend in the back after fatally shooting her boyfriend took his own life after leading police on an hours-long manhunt near Katy.

The shooting took place in a home in the Cinco Ranch Community just outside of Houston. Neighbors called police shortly after 9 PM Monday to report hearing gunshots. Police later learned that the gunman had forced his way into the home before opening fire, killing a man and wounding a woman. Three children in the home were not injured.

Neighbors said the gunman pointed his weapon at them as he fled the home, firing in their direction at least once. Police searched the area for almost eight hours before locating the suspect in a garage around 3 AM. As a SWAT team moved in to confront him, he turned his gun on himself.

Police have not released the names of the victims or the gunman, nor have they commented on the condition of the wounded woman.
