Not even a profanity-laced pep-talk from Matthew McConaughey earlier this season was able to lift the Longhorns to greatness the season, the blame for which has been placed squarely on the shoulders of head coach Charlie Strong. Word comes out of Austin this afternoon that Strong has been sacked.

The news was posted online by the Austin American Statesman.  An anonymous source says an official announcement may not come until Monday.

The 'Horns lost 24 to 21 against Kansas in overtime Saturday - the first time they beat Texas since 1938.  As it stands right now, Strong is 16-20 overall at UT.  That makes him the losingest coach in Longhorn history.
