While everyone on the album serves up some bars, WC, who would team up with Mack 10 and Ice Cube to form Westside Connection a year later.
Linking with Cube and Mack 10 on "West Up!" WC offers what is pretty much the mission statement for the album.
"Nigga clear the lane, here I come, once againWith this, gangsta click, droppin' this, gangsta shit/Strictly for the riders who ride us I gotta West-Sider/Rhymer for them niggas that's sittin' on them Dayton wires/Pump the bass, hit the switch/'Cause Ice Cube, Mack 10, and Dub-C, back up in this b-i-itch," WC raps on the track.
While WC & the Maad Circle only managed to peak at No. 85 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, it still had its fair share of good tracks. Looking its commercial performance, try to remember that it was released at the very peak of gangsta rap, so it was a hard time to stand out. With that said, the album's combo of vivid street imagery and speaker-thumping G-Funk beats make it a worthwhile listen.
