Chief of police Fred Churchill said there were "yards that got burned up during the fire but no houses were damaged and so a lot of people are happy they can go home"

Residents were asked to evacuate after a fire on the peninsula of Lake Belton spread, luckily no one was hurt and no property was damaged.

According to KWTX The fire was contained by 9:00 Thursday night after help from firefighters traveling from Belton, Killeen, Temple, Rogers, Morgan's Point, Rogers and Moffat were called to battle the blaze in 100 plus degree heat!
