Houston rapper Z-Ro has been released from jail in Harris County, Texas after posting $50,000 bail on Thursday (July 27). As we previously reported, Z-Ro (real name: Joseph McVey) was arrested and charged with felony aggravated assault on Wednesday (July 26) for allegedly beating his ex-girlfriend Just Brittany for several hours.

According to court documents viewed by Houston's ABC13, Z-Ro is being accused of slapping, punching and choking Just Brittany while holding a gun. The alleged incident happened in April at Z-Ro’s home.

Just Brittany, whose real name is Brittany Bullock, told police that she recorded 21 minutes of the attack on her cell phone. She also said that during the assault she got sick and threw up. Authorities have viewed the video and they allegedly heard Z-Ro slapping Brittany and saying, “You’re dead,” while she cried and begged the rapper to stop. The fight was supposedly over canceled dinner plans.

Z-Ro's defense attorney told ABC13 that he's shocked by the allegations and reportedly said that his client is a good person. Prosecutors in the case have no comment on the matter.
