Did Kevin Durant Stare-Down Rihanna During Game 1 of the NBA Finals? Twitter Seems to Think So
Game 1 of the NBA Finals featuring the Golden State Warriors squaring off against the Cleveland Cavaliers was last night (June 1) and while the Warriors handled the Cavs fairly easily, the real star of the evening was Rihanna.
First, commentator Jeff Van Gundy had a fanboy moment, swooning that RiRi "just walked in front of me" which became a thing on Twitter for a while.
But people seem to think that the Warriors' Kevin Durant wasn't feeling Rihanna's presence. In fact, some folks believe that Durant (who had a monster night with 38 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists) stared RiRi down a couple of times, after she heckled him while he was at the free throw line, then later when he drained a three-pointer in front of her. That too, quickly became a thing on Twitter.
However, when a journalist asked Durant about the RiRi stare down, he was pretty over it. “I don’t even remember that,” he said dryly. The reporter then said everyone was buzzing about the entire thing, which Durant seemed surprised about, asking "Really?"
However, Steph Curry was there to keep things moving. "Don’t get into that trap," he warned Durant.
“Yeah, I don’t want to get into that,” Durant agreed. “I’m cool. Have fun with that.”
Game 2 of the Finals will be Sunday at Golden State. We'll have to see if RiRi shows up.
