Dog Separated From Owner After I-35 Rollover Returns Home

A rollover car accident is enough to make any person not want to get behind the wheel again. It's no surprise that if a pet is in the car when it happens, they probably won't be as excited to go on another car ride either.

This was the case for Michelle Ross and her dog Cooper as they traveled down Interstate 35 on Monday north of Lacy Lakeview. A crash happened around 10 a.m. on  I-35 near the New Dallas Highway overpass. Ross was behind the wheel of a Volkswagen when her tire blew out. Her VW then crashed into another vehicle and rolled over.

You can imagine the terror she must have felt along with her dog who ended up running away from the crash site after escaping the vehicle. The poor dog must have been scared to death. While Michelle was lucky enough to walk away from the crash without serious injury she felt as though she had lost a member of the family member knowing the dog had run off and could not be found.

She reached out to police on social media for help finding her dog. Tuesday morning a Texan reached out saying the dog had been found in the Spring Lake area west of the interstate. That person answered Michelle's prayers and brought the dog over to the Lacy Lakeview Police Department according to KWTX News 10 and Police Chief John Truehitt. 

Not only is it a small miracle neither Michelle or her dog didn't suffer a serious injury, but it's also amazing that someone was able to locate the dog so quickly.

Truehitt took the chance to remind folks in Central Texas about the option to microchip your pets. This way a stray can always be reunited with its owners.
