A home in south Temple was gutted by a fire early Sunday morning.

Temple Fire & Rescue were called to the 4500 block of Calle Roble at 4:30 AM Sunday. When they arrived, heavy smoke was billowing from the front and rear of the brick home, and flames were visible inside.

10 minutes after firefighters arrived, flames broke through the roof of the home. It took almost two hours to bring the fire under control. The scene was finally cleared at 8:46 AM.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported. However, one person was displaced and the home was a total loss. Temple Fire spokesman Thomas Pechal estimated the dollar loss at $125,000.

Pechal said fire crews found a downed power line in the backyard of the home, but said the cause of the fire remained undetermined.
