The late Lil Snupe (born Addarren Ross) is immortalized in mentor Meek Mill's song "Lil N---- Snupe." On the heartbreaking song, the Philly rapper spits,"They killed my lil n---- Snupe, my lil n---- was the truth / And all he wanted was a coupe, all he wanted was a coupe." Lil Snupe was supposed to turn 20 years old today (June 13).

Lil Snupe was a potential rap star from Louisiana who met Meek Mill at a tour stop at Gambling State University and gave him a demo tape. "He was in a van, they was finna pull off," Lil Snupe recalls in a MTV interview. "And I went and knocked on the van, on the window. They let the window down, grabbed the mixtape and it was like 10 minutes later, 20 minutes later they called me."

Impressed by the young man's lyrical skills, the MMG artist signed the then 17-year-old rhymer to his Dream Chasers record label. The signing made sense since Snupe had the same high-octane style of rapping that was fueled by his bleak surroundings.

Sadly, those surroundings ended up taking his life. On June 20, 2013, Lil Snupe was shot twice in the torso during an altercation over a video game bet.

Before his untimely death, Lil Snupe was very vocal about repping for his hometown. “I Hold it Down 4 Louisiana,” his final tweet read.

On Saturday (June 13), Meek Mill went on Twitter to remember his fallen comrade. He tweeted:
