Texas man Moises Sandoval Mendoza has been known as one of the most dangerous and violent rapists and killers in the state. He will be executed by lethal injection, making him the third inmate to be executed this year in the great state of Texas and the 13th inmate executed in the nation.

The innocent young woman, Rachelle O'Neill, was a new mother to her six-month-old child, Avery. The O'Neill family has expressed their ongoing struggle with grief, stating, “I don’t think we’ll ever heal. I don’t think a mother ever truly heals from the loss of a child.” Pam O'Neill, Rachel's mother, also expressed her disbelief that her grandchild will grow up without a mother.

At 6 PM local time on Wednesday, April 23, Mendoza is set to be executed at the Alan B. Polinski Unit in West Livingston, Texas. According to reports, Mendoza explained to the police that he let himself into the young mother’s home through the back door on the night of the murder. The two individuals left to get cigarettes, leaving the child at home. While driving around, Mendoza decided to choke Rachelle in the car, with no motive discovered, according to court documents. He then drove to a field near his house, where he raped her and choked her again until she died, ensuring her death by slicing her throat with a knife.

Mendoza left her body in the field, where it remained for several days before he was interviewed by the police. The story is horrific, and Mendoza later claimed he did not understand what had happened to him at that moment, saying he "just turned into the devil" and thought it was all a dream. Due to Mendoza’s actions, not only has Rachelle's family had to learn how to cope with the loss of their loved one, but they must also confront the reality that today at 6 PM, he will be put to death.
