If a storm produces hail that large, it can seriously injure people and animals. It also poses a major threat to property, vehicles, power lines, crops, landscaping, and even aviation. We're talking about the potential for significant damage and widespread power outages. The National Weather Service (NWS) is warning Panhandle residents to prepare for possible winds over 60 mph, a low chance of tornado development, and hail up to 2.5 inches in diameter.

In the Dallas–Fort Worth area, skies are expected to stay mostly cloudy with fewer rain chances, although thunderstorms could develop later in the day. Meanwhile, Central Texas may see storms and showers reaching areas along north Interstate 10 by Friday afternoon.
Southeast Texas—including Houston—can expect scattered showers and storms throughout the day, with heavier weather potentially developing north of the city.
