Personally, my allergies are so intense during this time that I can’t even taste the meals I prepare due to my congested nose it's quite concerning. Many Texans, like myself, are exhausted from the stuffy noses, itchy eyes, sore throats, and constant sneezing. There have been discussions about homemade remedies to relieve the discomfort of allergies. One popular method involves sourcing local honey from nearby beekeepers or hives.

IS THIS OLD SCHOOL TEXAS REMEDY  MYTH OR IS IT MEDICINE

For many Texans, just 2 tablespoons of raw local honey does the trick. However, according to WebMD, there is no definitive evidence that local honey can effectively alleviate allergies. While honey does contain pollen from various plants, it may not have a high enough concentration to trigger allergic reactions. That said, I can share from my experience that I’ve been taking 2 tablespoons of honey during allergy season since childhood, and it reliably soothes my itchy throat. So, the question remains: is Texas local honey a hit or just a sweet placebo? Either way, Texans have been doing this remedy forever and I think it is something we will continue to do.
