(Killeen, Texas): A suspect has been taken into custody in connection to a December 4th hit-and-run which resulted in the death of 39-year-old Latasha Suzanna Brenda Wright.

The Case Described

Shortly before 10 PM Saturday, December 4, police responded to a 911 call about a person having been hit by a car at South Fort Hood Street and West Lane. First responders found Wright seriously injured and tried to treat her and save her life. Sadly, their efforts were in vain and she was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:43 PM.

Police notified the public the next morning and asked for help identifying the driver of the vehicle believed to have hit Wright before driving away. The only detail available to those wishing to provide any tips was that they left the scene in a "light-colored pickup."

Suspect Arrested And Charged

On Monday, December 12th, Killeen PD released another statement regarding the capture of a suspect. According to the release, a review was conducted by the Bell County District Attorney's office, which resulted in a complaint filed against 35-year-old Chakria Dominique Lee.

Police say Lee voluntarily reached out to them and spoke with detectives, after which the case was reviewed by the Bell County District Attorney's Office and a felony charge of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon was brought forward.

Lee was arrested on Friday, December 9th with involvement from the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force.

Bell County Jail records indicate Lee was booked at 1:40 PM on Saturday, December 10. She remained in custody Monday, December 12 with bond set at $1 million.
