Marlin, Texas is a beautiful little town just east of the Brazos River in Central Texas that offers way more than a tight knit community, it serves as the home for many with multi-generational ties to the beginning of the Lone Star State. Marlin is the type of place family members like to come home to and raise their families, and now it feels like there is hope for that generational tradition to continue.

Marlin Independent School District in the past couple of years has had to call off school more times than anyone can count due to a lack of quality water pressure, and often times the complete absence of available water. The current water service has been failing for years, and eventually old birds (in this case, kicked cans) do finally come home to roost.

According to this KCEN article, the Marlin City Council recently approved a measure to install two new portable water facilities in hopes of getting the town running water again. What the town ultimately needs is a fully operational and adequate water treatment and supply complex.

Relief has arrived in the way of mobile laundry, shower facilities, and drinking water for residents thanks to the calling of The Disaster Relief Ministry of the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention. Hopefully the new portable water systems will hold up long enough for a temporary fix to become a permanent solution.
