Willie Nelson’s 4th Of July Picnic Line Up Now Revealed

Del Valle, Texas will be the next home of Willie Nelson's 4th of July Picnic as it rightfully returns to the Lone Star State to continue a tradition that can trace its roots back over 50 years. The festival actually began after a spring gathering that terribly underperformed over three days at St Patrick's Day in 1972, but Willie being the incredible visionary that he is, decided what the failed festival needed was actually more Willie.

While the original festival, Dripping Springs Reunion in Dripping Springs, was hoping to draw around 70,000 people per day, they ended up with a three day total of only 40,000. Willie still saw the potential, and since the farm had already hosted one festival, he knew it could handle hosting a one day picnic, so in 1973 we were blessed with our very first Willie Nelson's 4th of July Picnic.

Fresh off of the Oscar buzz of his bio picture "A Complete Unknown," Bob Dylan joins Willie as a headliner, and additional artists include The Avett Brothers and Asleep at the Wheel. Past legends to perform include Temple based Little Joe y La Familia.

Over the years there have been several times Willie has threatened this may be the last time, but he is not singing that tune anymore. According to this KVUE article, Willie was happy to remind potential attendees that he himself is 92 years old, and if he can be there, you have no excuse to not be.

Last year, the festival was held across the Delaware River from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, now it returns to the Austin area, and will be held at the Circuit of the Americas. Presale begins tomorrow for fan club members, and general on sale will be Friday.
