Folks in Temple and Troy who make Lower Troy Road part of their daily commute will need to find an alternate route for a couple of months.

The City of Temple has announced it will close a portion of Lower Troy Road from East Young Avenue to Berger Road beginning Monday, January 13, and it is expected to remain closed until the end of March.

In a news release, the City said the closure will be in place 24 hours a day until crews have installed water and sewage mains for a planned subdivision.

"Local access will remain for residents and property owners along Lower Troy Road," the release reads. "Through traffic for all other vehicles will be closed between East Young Avenue and Berger Road during the work."

I know many people commute to and from Temple along Lower Troy Road each day, so let's help get the word out so they don't find themselves late for work Monday morning.

If you have questions or concerns about the closure, reach out to the City of Temple's Engineering Department at 298-5660.
