Man sentenced in Cedar Park Drag Race deaths from 2018
Hayden Hammer, who had a part in seriously injuring a mother, and was responsible for the deaths of two children was sentenced to 7 years in prison and 10 years probation.
Hammer will do both simultaneously.
KXAN in Austin reports that Hammer, then 18, was drag racing on Highway 183 in Cedar Park killing 2 children Elijah and Daniel Chaudary ages 1 and 8.
According to the report, racing on a highway causing death is a second-degree felony in Texas with up to 20 years in prison as the penalty.
The family of the victims is outraged with the sentencing as they, in my opinion, should be:
Reportedly, Williamson County District Attorney Shawn Dick said Hammer would be eligible for parole after 3 1/2 years.
I am in agreeance with the family of the victims, 7 years in prison, especially if he is released on good behavior is 100% shameful.
