The chance for severe thunderstorms returns to Central Texas this afternoon and this evening with the best chance for rain just East of the I-35 corridor. Storms are expected to end before daybreak on Wednesday.

While there isn't going to be an overwhelming amount of instability in the air, the National Weather Service sees an opportunity for Severe Weather because of the wind shear. It appears to be enough to cause some storms to become strong to severe. The biggest threat will come from damaging wind gusts. Super-cells that could produce tornadoes are expected to be in areas both East of I-35 and South of I-20. Heavy rainfall could cause localized flooding.

The next cold front will arrive on Thursday/Friday bringing another chance for rain over the Thanksgiving/Black Friday period headed into the weekend.
