When it comes to magazine covers, Rihanna is not afraid to take it to the next level. For W Magazine’s September 2016 issue, the pop superstar goes for a luxurious, post-apocalyptic look for the eye-popping cover.

Inside, the magazine presents RiRi in a futuristic 10-page fashion spread and calls her “pop's Furiosa, the last woman on earth and the ruling warrior queen in a dark, dystopian future.”

The images feature Rihanna wearing gaudy headdresses, leather bodysuits, metal accessories, high-heeled stiletto boots and glittery make-up. In one photo, the 28-year-old singer is wearing a diamond-laced choker with matching earrings and a crown.

Stylist Edward Enninful says Rihanna was very involved with the styling and clothes featured in the photo shoot.

"With Rihanna, it's always a collaboration and that's why I love her so much," she told W Magazine. "So I’ll send her ideas, she’ll bounce them back. It’s not me going, 'Here you go, Ri.' It’s 100 percent collaboration. I’ll send her one of the sketches and she’ll say 'Oh I love it,' or 'I wish it was shorter.'"

The entire fashion spread was shot by famed photographer Steven Klein who also directed Kanye West's stylish video for "Wolves."

The September 2016 of W Magazine, with post-apocalyptic Rihanna on the cover, will hit newsstands next week.
