There were some serious red carpet clunkers at the 2013 Golden Globes. The dresses that were bad were ... really bad. There was nothing middling or "ho hum" about this selection of dumpy dresses, failure frocks and groan-inducing gowns. It's a shame, since all of the ladies on this list are beauties in their own right. But boy did they choose the wrong dresses for this event.

The were more hits than misses at the 2013 Golden Globe Awards, so in order to keep things manageable, we narrowed it down to the five absolute best and most beautiful gowns (but do feel free to check out all our red carpet coverage).

Jennifer Lopez is another actress/singer/fashionista who usually knocks us dead at awards shows, fetes and Hollywood events. But when she has a clunker, boy does it land with an earth-cratering thud. We so wanted flame-haired actress Jessica Chastain, who's the subject of much buzz thanks to her work in 'Zero Dark Thirty,' to wow us on the red carpet of the 2013 Golden Globe Awards. Unfortunately, she didn't. Instead, she sank in a seafoam green, Calvin Klein sack.

Angelina Jolie flashed her leg at last year's Oscars, and it was the flash seen (and heard) round the world, becoming an instant iconic moment. And actress Eva Longoria seemed to be paying attention, because she mimicked Jolie's stunt in her black lace, custom creation by Pucci at the 2013 Golden Globes.

Instead of cowering in a corner after her breakup with One Direction's Harry Styles, Taylor Swift showed up on the Golden Globes red carpet looking gorgeous in an eggplant-colored, backless Donna Karan concoction that was exotic and sexy at once.
