Texas has been attracting a lot of new residents from other states over the past several years, and one of the most common union members to have people flee for the Lone Star State is Illinois. In fact, Illinois has been losing people for over a decade straight, and Texas has consistently been among the top locations for former Illinoisans to take up residence with the border states of Wisconsin and Indiana also being very popular, and convenient destinations.

Just about two weeks ago Governor Greg Abbott of Texas was speaking at the Republican National Convention in Illinois's neighboring city of Milwaukee, Wisconsin when he told the crowd, nation, and the world that Texas would continue to share its adoration of migrants by continuing to send additional asylum seekers to the Chicago Metroland.

Texas Issues New Warning To Illinois

According to recent data, Texas welcomed almost 25,000 new residents from Illinois in the past year, and the governor has responded by sending north around 40,000 new Illinoisans in the past two years to the not so welcoming arms of Chicagoland. At the RNC, Governor Abbott reminded Chicago that as long as there are plenty of new residents to share, Texas is happy to assist in filling all of those newly empty homes.
