There has been a massive recall for nearly a dozen automobile makes and several subsequent models due to a defect with the airbag that has cost at least 27 lives, and more than 400 injuries thus far with Texas perhaps being the state most at risk for severe injury or deaths.

This recent recall push is actually a revisit to a previous recall made 10 years ago. It is being reported this potentially faulty equipment remains in about 6.4 million vehicles, and Texas has more of them on the road than any other state.
The major concern is the Takata inflaters have actually been exploding during airbag deployment, and the problem appears to be amplified within vehicles that are known to be owned in hot and humid climates like Texas.
