So this morning, while listening to the Rickey Smiley Morning Show, I heard Da Brat talk about a study that showed 54% of people lie about their relationship status on social media. She also said that 77% of the people on internet that post they are single, are actually in relationships!

And get this, the other 23% of people that say they are in a relationship… ARE LYING!!!

She’s referring to a story first published by British website Female First, which listed five reasons why people want to lie about their relationships on social media. Here's what I think of them...

'I still want to be desirable to others...'

Seeeeee…..if he or she is ALWAYS ON FACEBOOK and is STILL friends with their ex or someone they used to “hookup with” ask yourself….WHY?  Why is it necessary to have your ego stroked by others? Aren’t you in a relationship?

    Yeah I thought so….

'I'm looking to have an affair through social media...'

Ok I’m guilty of this. Having a “facebook” girlfriend. We’d flirt with each other every morning, like each others pics, hell we’d even message each other as we watched Empire together. My girlfriend (at the time)would be sitting right next to me, my facebook girlfriend would be on my phone. Hi Tanisha!

    'I'm embarrassed by my relationship...'

Back in my playa playa days (a long long long time ago) I WOULD ABSOLUTELY NEVER, EVER, EVER post photos of my girlfriend and I. How did my girlfriend look? She was beautiful! So I wasn’t embarrassed by her, I was afraid one of her friends or friends of her friends would recognize me and call me out! YOLO!

'I don't think the relationship is serious enough to broadcast it yet...'

Somebody says that and they are BS’n you!! Don’t believe it, they still want to keep that “door open”.

'I want to keep my life private...'

I can attest to this. Remember the time she surprised you with dinner and you took a pic of it, or the time you two went to the Grand Canyon and all the memories you shared that you posted. So now, you two have a big argument and break up because you found out, he cheated on you with your cousins best friend….now what?

Do you now take the time to diss and dog him on the same platform you posted all the pics of when you were in love? Of course not, see…now you look stupid. Your facebook friends are laughing at you and eating popcorn while you are ranting on how much of  a dog he was. Avoid it altogether, your partner should understand that key events on your relationship doesn’t need to be on social media.

The less you post about your significant other the less people know your business.
