6ix9ine Asks Judge to Prevent Prosecutors From Using His Rap Name During Trial

Daniel Hernandez is best known as 6ix9ine in the hip-hop world, but when the "Fefe" rapper stands trial next month in Houston for allegedly choking a 16-year-old boy, the New York artist would prefer if he's referred to as "defendant," "accused" or his legal name.

In legal documents obtained by TMZ, 6ix9ine reportedly asks the judge to prevent prosecutors from referring to him by his rap name, as it could be used in a negative way to place "derogatory and satirically unflattering labels" on him.

The "Gummo" artist was set to be arraigned on Wednesday for the incident in Houston, but the arraignment has now been pushed back to September, although an exact date has yet to be revealed.

The Houston incident occurred in January at the Galleria Mall. Footage from the incident appears to show the rapper grabbing the 16-year-old by the hood of his sweatshirt. According to the victim, he was recording a cell phone video of 6ix9ine when the rapper turned around and demanded he erase it. The boy then claims 6ix9ine grabbed him by his neck.

The trial in Houston isn't the only legal trouble 6ix9ine is facing. The rapper may also be forced to register as a sex offender and serve jail time for his role in a sexual misconduct case stemming from 2015. A Manhattan District Attorney suggested earlier this month that the rapper serve between one to three years in prison.
