Nearly four weeks after Zendaya Coleman backed out of the Aaliyah biopic, another actress has come to save the day.

Her name is Alexandra Shipp, an actress who plays on Nickelodeon's 'House of Anubis' -- a teen drama that airs in Belgium and the Netherlands. The Hollywood Reporter confirms the news of Shipp's part in 'Aaliyah: Princess of R&B.'

In addition to Shipp joining the film, gossip queen and talk show host Wendy Williams has jumped on-board as executive producer. Williams is more than thrilled to be working on the heavily-scrutinized Lifetime movie.

"I'm excited to exec produce the Aaliyah @lifetimetv movie w/@DebraMChase. Prod starts later this month and @AlexShipppp will play Aailyah," she wrote via Twitter.

So far Shipp hasn't taken to social media to make any announcements or a statement regarding her role.

It'll be interesting to see how Aaliyah's die-hard fans react to the decision of Shipp playing the late singer. There's bound to be plenty of feedback in the days and weeks to come.
